First of all, these are great shoes. The length and width are above, but the height of the sock seems small. When walking, I am very aware that my thumb is touching the top of the shoe. The tongue says "leather upper". Upon closer inspection, I see that it is indeed leather. I haven't seen faux leather yet. Shoes are comfortable with moderate arch support. These are good walking shoes.
