Review on Convert A Ball PH 1 Bolt On Pintle Hitch by Charles Barney

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Outstanding Hitch System

If you are looking for a versatile, well designed, reliable, quality tow hitch look no further. The Convert-A-Ball system is a really great setup. The Compatibility with 1 7/8", 2" and 2 5/8" balls out of the box is great, and they swap places at the touch of a button. There is no need to rotate the clutch like some other three-ball systems. All balls and shaft are made of stainless steel and withstand the load very well. Having ridden the 4000# boat over 1000 miles, the ball has only minor scuffs, most of which can be wiped off with a little elbow grease. The interchangeable pivot is a bonus if like me you have some tractor implements that don't use traditional ball hitches. I bought it with an 8 hole trunnion mount and the combo was excellent. The bolt-on assembly is solid (but requires extra work if you need to change the height of the ball between trailers). The soft mount does a great job with the groaning and clanking that comes with starts and stops - it's noiseless! The only problem I have is that the hitch and bracket are a bit longer than the normal ones. ball mounts. In my particular case, this meant that my boat trailer's safety chains did not reach the truck's hitch frame. But with the extra holes on the 8 hole mounting plate I was able to thread the safety chains in there and they matched the end hooks perfectly. (Mostly a function of the security chain system on my particular boat trailer, not the hitch.) Overall very happy with the purchase. This is a strong, versatile, quality towbar that is well worth the extra money compared to other ball mounts. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a strong and versatile towbar.
