Review on Dell UltraSharp 2208WFP Wide Screen Widescreen Display, 2208Wfp by John Walsh

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Reasonable price but only reasonable quality

Again, I have to disagree with Mr. Res. While the Dell 2208WFP isn't a bad monitor, it's actually not a very good one. As some of you may know, almost all 22 inch TFT monitors are TN panels. This is the cheapest type of panel and the limitations are pretty obvious at 22 inches and up. The main problem with this product is the terrible viewing angle. You have to look at it right in the middle. Any tilt up, down, or sideways will show color Normally, a faint rose-pink color will appear at the edges of the screen. It wasn't particularly sharp [although it was labeled 'super sharp'] and the colors could have looked fresher. Calibration was also a real pain and I struggled to make it look good in the end, give in. It would be nice as a second monitor or a cheap and fun option, but if you want high quality, great color and clarity, look elsewhere.
