Whether you're on a tight budget or not, this GVM slider is a great investment in your kit. For my typical job (in a non-commercial promotion) the purchase made sense. In recent months it has proven itself in numerous criteria: economy, versatility, stability and durability. I used this slider to add movement to the B camera and as a temporary shot to add movement to life. I haven't had any problems with workmanship or functionality. This greatly improved my apparent production value. Worth knowing: 1) It takes time and patience to learn the controller interface. It's not hard or difficult, but it does take time to master. Read reviews and watch YouTube videos to learn how to set it up. I opened the box on the day of shooting and didn't assemble it until I got to the location and was able to set up the controller with ease. 2) At higher speeds, the battery will drain much faster. So take extra batteries with you 3) At lower speeds the sound of the motor is almost imperceptible. However, at a very high speed (90%+). However, if you use it for a moving B-Camera, you should never use it above 70-80%. So for me it's not a factor. 4) The case, although light, seems strong enough to withstand travel. I make everything childish I have and travel with. If you're on an airplane or are too rough with the gear, you might want to consider a flight case in the future. 5) Due to the weight of the motor unit, you MUST need 2 tripods/light stands or an extension. Support arms that you can find online. A tripod under the center will probably do the trick unless you're using a short distance. I am unique in everything I use. Should this slider prove imperfect in the future, I will change my rating. However, for me it was solid and has yet to live up to my expectations.
