I think it's a really cool idea. They're flat and light (as light as the cheap plastic bowl I usually carry with me). You have to be careful when the food is very hot, so you have to keep them on the edge if you have really hot food. Or when you fill them with hot water for the first time. It was quite cold on the last morning of our hike (maybe 35 degrees?). I couldn't click an image together. Nothing clogged, just not torn. We could get this to work, but if this problem occurred on more than one shot, you wouldn't have a bowl. I'm sure the plastic caps took a hit from the cold because they all work perfectly now that we're home. But I'm concerned about the durability of the fasteners. And I would NOT take them with me on a winter hike/mountain tour. You can have a plate instead of a bowl. I wonder if the manufacturer has tested them in winter temperatures?
