Long range, difficult to lay sensor cable flat on the floor

YoLink LoRa's range is not Wi-Fi or Zigbee/ZWave and far exceeds the range and reliability of these other wireless technologies. I'm a big fan of YoLink remote sensing products. However, the sensor cable of this water sensor is difficult to route on the floor under my washing machine. This was solved to some extent by purchasing a stereo mini plug extension cable which allowed the sensor housing to be placed much higher on the wall behind the washer/dryer and allowed me to weight the sensor cable myself with some weights ( the kind used to hold air lines into the aquarium) so that it lies flat on the floor beneath the washing machine. Another consideration is that once the sensor wire becomes wet (anywhere along its length, as intended) the alarm will sound continuously until the sensor wire is completely dry. It will take forever to fully dry. To deal with this you should use some sort of extension cord so you have enough overall length so you can pull the extension off the sensor body to cancel the alarm and then dry the sensor cord separately. That way you don't get a persistent alert condition. Without an extension, the sensor housing will either end up on the floor or you won't have enough sensor wire lying on the floor to increase the likelihood of it getting wet, depending on how the water flows after the leak. Anyway with these mods for my particular application I am very happy with this product. Technical customer support is also very good, and if like me you ask a company for assistance, you can actually speak to some of the company's founders. My only wish is that they open an API so YoLink devices can integrate directly with my home automation hub (Hubitat) so I don't have to rely on cloud integration to interact with voice and push notifications , as I currently do. through Alex.

Pros
  • World's longest wireless range. Powered by LoRa technology, the long-range, low-power system offers the industry's longest receiving range on the market (1/4 mile). Our long range means it can be used in locations that are unsuitable for most residential Wi-Fi systems, such as: B. Basements, sundecks/patios, sheds, detached garages and even secluded outbuildings on your property.
Cons
  • not reliable
