Originally designed, these trekking poles are perfect for a small daypack. I have a couple of expensive branded trekking poles that I really like. But the biggest problem I have is that they don't come off easily during the parts of the hike when I don't want to use poles. I have to attach them to the outside of the backpack and then they hit my body. These sticks are so small when folded that they even fit in my smallest backpack. There is one design feature that you need to understand in order for these sticks to work. You will understand when you watch the video. This is not clear from the instructions that came with the sticks. But once you figure out that you have to pull part of the stick out until the button clicks, you'll love these sticks! The only "downside" to these sticks is that they don't have the same level of shock absorption as my expensive sticks. While this is a nice feature, I'd happily trade it for the portability of these sticks. Finally, these sticks are perfect for travel. They will go with me everywhere because they fit so easily in a small suitcase (trekking poles are not allowed in carry-on luggage according to the TSA). They're even small enough to fit in a shoulder bag. And the price couldn't be better! Incredible value! Clear five stars!
