Review on Columbia Splash A Little Women's Rain Jacket by Joseph Marquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very pleasantly surprised by this flattering jacket!

I have ordered waterproof raincoats in various colors and sizes to replace my two punctured raincoats: the knee length North Face Stella Grace Trench and the hip length black North Face. Belted bag that is very compact for traveling. I figured I would end up buying the Columbia Pardon My Trench and ordered Splash a Little on a whim based on the good reviews. I was expecting to send it back as it looks misshapen on the model. Also, let me say that I'm not the type to look good in jackets. I still wear "even sizes", but I have a very large chest, broad shoulders, muscular upper back, strong biceps, thick waist and long torso, so I didn't expect a beltless jacket is pulled up. Look very nice. I was very surprised when I tried on this coat. It's big enough in the chest but not too big or baggy. Don't hunch your shoulders. Not only does it fit my arm circumference, the sleeves are long enough too, which is a small miracle. The length is great - it hits below the hips and is slightly longer in the back to protect against splashes. The hood has great coverage and a good bill that feels like it's staying in place in the wind, and the zip and buttons go up far enough to really protect your head. There is an internal chest pocket which is great for anything you need to keep safe or dry. It cinches in at the waist just enough to be flattering, but I can still wear a sweater underneath and it won't look bulky. It's clearly a raincoat, but the material feels premium and not too plasticky. Two points of criticism: 1. As with many Columbia jackets, the zipper is tricky and doesn't always want to "snag". I very much want you to pay attention to this topic.2. I wish there were hidden zippers or venting at the back as I'm sure there's steam inside when it's humid outside. I am returning all raincoats and keeping this very nice versatile jacket. It's perfect for commuting and travelling. I also wanted to point out that while it's not designed for that, you can slide it almost entirely into your own pocket for portability if you wish :-D
