I read many reviews before buying this jacket and decided to go up a size based on everyone's recommendations. I usually wear a small jacket, but I chose a medium one. While the top is a little loose, I definitely see it as too tight around my hips if I go for the small. I'm 5'5 134lb, athletic build with broad shoulders and slightly wider hips. I like the length (which falls about as if the model loves her bum) even though I'm small and tops are usually longer on me. I don't know how it fares in heavy rain in strenuous conditions like hiking or biking, but this jacket has performed well for errands and light day hikes. I'm usually short (5ft 5in, 116lbs, in aged navy and XS) and this jacket fits both XS and S, but I needed room to fit a thick fleece sweater underneath to wear I chose the little one.
