Much of my daily work relies heavily on Linux. The Wi-Fi chip on my laptop started failing and I couldn't access the wireless internet. My laptop is 8 years old and I have no plans to buy a new one. There's still a lot of life left. Working with wired internet (which I could) at home is not easy and not convenient. I've been looking for a Wi-Fi adapter to match my Linux OS for 6 months. I tried the regular drivers from TPlink and Netgear but the available online drivers didn't work for me. They are designed for Windows so you can plug them into your Windows computer and work without installing a driver. I literally got frustrated trying to run shell scripts here and there to troubleshoot and get the TPLink/Netgear adapters working for me. But I couldn't. I came across a Brotrend adapter and bought it. Works like clockwork. Installing Linux is very easy once you know the basic shell commands (you can just follow the instructions blindly, to be honest). The support team is very helpful and provides a detailed step-by-step guide on how to install the Linux driver. Please note that internet access is recommended during driver installation as some kind of Debian package is downloaded. You can use a wired Ethernet connection from your router. The online Internet speed test shows the following indicators: ping: 5 ms, download speed 83.40 Mbit/s, upload speed: 75.45 Mbit/s. The speed curves are almost flat, no change. The router is on the ground floor and I work on the second floor. Very happy with my purchase, perhaps in high spirits. After 6 months I can work normally again with my Linux laptop. I highly recommend this to Linux users who need a speed boost or are interested in running older laptops with broken Wi-Fi chips.
