My first wide chisel. Only used to finish the top. I liked the experience. The Stanley FatMax chisels are my go-to for carpentry, heavy duty work and very tough woodwork. I have a great set of Japanese chisels that I use for pairing and furniture making, but while they are sharper and will cut longer without resharpening, they are more brittle and can dent with hard work on very hard wood. The "softer" FatMax steel is less brittle and will stand up to the tougher work in these hardwoods. Their price makes them very valuable. Recommended.
