I bought this to replace a heel derailleur that had the splines removed to allow it to rotate freely when changing gears. The replacement is hard wearing and has a beautiful chrome finish. Looks very good. But what struck me is that the splines that go to the clutch shaft were also chrome plated and seemed a bit small to me. It took a little effort to align the splines, but I managed it. I couldn't tighten the lag bolt as much as I wanted without removing the head of the bolt, so I got a stainless steel hex bolt from a hardware store and installed it that way. I'm sure the lever will engage the splines well, but time will tell if I'm right about the cut splines being too shallow and wearing out. However, they are a very economical option in place of original parts from Harley or other high-end manufacturers. The most important thing for me is that I only had to replace one of the corresponding levers so that I have a spare in case the other one comes loose.
