I bought a WEN alternator that recommends changing the oil every 25 hours of use. Unlike my larger inverter generator, the WEN does not have a built-in hour meter. The only easy way to keep track of hours is with an hour meter. They run on vibration but I've read that they sometimes count hours of vibration during shipping. This is only important when the engine is running. Installation was pretty easy, just a piece of wire that you wrap around the spark plug wire. Then just set the counter somewhere.
