I'm a plumber and have tested all the new toilet floor seals. They are easy to use and work great. The problem with the old wax rings was that they weren't resilient, meaning once the wax was pushed in when the toilet was placed on top of it, it certainly didn't conform to the moving toilet, it only moved during the installation process. Toilet down or any subsequent movement that may occur. Consequently, about 99% of toilets leak at least partially. Very often you can see the wear of the wood in the places where the toilet bowl is attached to the floor. Spend extra money and avoid leaks!
