Pros: - Excellent sharpness, colors/contrast - Solid build/good quality Cons: - Price compared to a first batch lens - Some significant hunting after focus The cons are the reason why I cannot fully recommend this lens. On Fleabay you can get the Canon 100mm L Macro for $750 with tons of accessories. Given Canon's resale value, that's not a problem either. The Canon focuses faster and can lock into low light without stuttering. This lens is very sharp, but it hunts just as hard as the old 60mm macro version (also from Tamron). I love Tamron zoom lenses, but I've always had trouble with their macro lenses. I can do without Tamron macro lenses or I'll get back to you sooner within the 30 day return period.
