Sturdy but metallic in portable speakers and docking stations

Sturdy little cube design sits securely on desk but I find the sound very metallic and without much bass response. I thought it was the other way around. Vapors are fine and my battery is fine (for now). I only use the on/off button on the speaker. For $10 it's pretty good, but I'd like a deeper sound.
