This sandbox is so cute! I bought this for my 4 and 2 year old daughters and they love it. My only daughter is an extremely active and assertive person, and at times she becomes so assertive that it is difficult to teach her to calm down and pay attention to what she is doing. This activity is very sensory and teaches them to focus and slow down. It seems to me that such children are called "animated". If she's too excited, she may have more problems than necessary, so an activity that slows her down is helpful. Rather than always making the time-out a punishment, playing with it serves as a time-out to calm them down. I love that it helps her slow down. My girls can play with it for an hour or two every day and not get bored. I also love that they can take the little toys they have at home and use them in their sandpit if they want. This creates an atmosphere for creative play. The only thing I changed is that I added kinetic sand and threw the sand out of the set. Kinetic sand is a lot less messy and a lot easier to clean. It doesn't just stick to the floor and spreads throughout the house, so you'll find sand in every corner of every room. Kinetic sand reminds me of plasticine because it sticks together but doesn't stick to carpets or floors. If so, somehow it stays in one place and is easy to vacuum. Children like kinetic sand more because it sticks together and can be used for crafting.
