For the first few weeks after purchasing this CD player when I plugged it into the wall using the universal adapter it played for a while before abruptly shutting down and it will be some time before I can turn it off, it's back. This never happens when I use batteries, but since this player is intended for home use, it became an issue. Since then it very rarely turns off when I plug it into an outlet. However, I really like the design of this disc player despite its small buttons. You can program up to 21 tracks on it and it has repeat and shuffle functions. However, I find it difficult To recommend this given the problems I had with him early on. If you only want to use batteries to operate, that might be fine.
