Judging by previous reviews I may have just been lucky but so far everything works fine. Its readings are pretty close to those of the non-digital thermometers I've used in the past, which I kept breaking by throwing them off the fridge shelves. I had it for a month. I will say that it alerts you to some things in your fridge that you might not have noticed before, like the lack of a rod or the lack of metal to attach a magnet to. Luckily, it's so versatile that the ability to convert a cross bar hanger into an easel stand means it can still be used. The ability to clear memory is very useful if you are worried about a problem with the fridge and the door accidentally opens for a few minutes. Reading up to -4 tells me it's not really intended for freezers as they should be kept closer to -10. So if this is your intended use, maybe try something else.
