I prefer to just open it up and use my laptop without taking it out. with the following two settings this would be ideal for this use: 1. slightly longer straps (or slightly elastic straps) would allow the bag to open to an angle of around 130° which is desirable when the laptop is underneath you line of sight. Only opens at 100-110°. This is an adjustment I could make myself. 2. Air vents at the same level as the air vents on your MacBook Pro can help keep your computer from overheating. For light use this is not a problem. Finally, I often took the laptop out and put it on the bag (using the bag as a small table) while using the laptop instead of leaving it in the bag. But it's definitely a very good cover. and very protective for my MacBook Pro. I put my laptop in when I'm done and it's safe. I move it from room to room within the suitcase rather than carrying it unprotected.
