Review on 🐱 Merrick LID Grain-Free Dry Cat Food by Jamie Lewis

Revainrating 2 out of 5

We were allergic to chicken but the cats didn't like the taste and the brand is great.

I have to clarify that I don't like it, but my cats don't like it. I have been buying dry food from Merrick for a long time. For about 4-5 years I have been buying the chicken version for my, say, 5 cats. They liked it very much. I like the premise of the company, the source of the ingredients and the price on Amazon. We also compared Blue Wilderness and Wellness Core and cats liked it more, if not as much. However, I have adopted/found a cat who has become allergic to chicken, so we had to switch to salmon. She figured destroying any kibble in the bowl, leaving a bowl full of kibble sitting around for days and practically giving it up. It was at a time when she was isolated from the rest of her litter of cats that when she joined them I put the rest of the Salmon Merrick in a feeding station, but started giving all the cats Now Fresh dry food in the rest of their many bowls . We've had about 6-8 packets of Now Fresh in about 3 months while Merrick Salmon stays intact in another dish, even if the other bowls are empty, cats would rather wait. As I said I like company and my cats love the taste of chicken so it wasn't an allergy we would still buy Merrick chicken but I would give it a try if you just want dry fish food (no grains) there isn't so many of them they mostly contain some kind of chicken. The only fish products I can think of are Merrick, Now Fresh (two flavors without the chicken), and Natural Balance. Now Fresh is the only company I know that offers chicken food for kittens. Just food for thought in case anyone is struggling with a cat allergy.
