After using this product for almost a year I don't understand why I bought it alongside other competitors in the market. There are so many other models out there from better companies for the same price with better warranties and probably higher quality. I would not recommend this product. The only positive thing I can say about this product is that the zoom is pretty good. Out of the box, the motors are quite noisy and the spindle motor appears to be off-axis, creating a frictional noise. on the first spin. As soon as the disc picks up speed, this rubbing noise disappears, so I didn't think much about it and it didn't seem to hurt my DVDs so I ignored it. After some time I noticed that the player turned itself on. Other comments have also complained about this issue. It wouldn't be so annoying if it weren't for the noisy motors and friction noise. I've been trying to figure out why this is happening and after a lot of troubleshooting I've resigned myself to unplugging the player until I need it. it's easy to use) it finally broke for me. When I saw that it was no longer under warranty (only 6 months warranty left) I decided to hack it and see if I could figure out why it stopped. Turns out they use the thinnest rubber band in the world, to drive the disc tray opening and closing mechanism, and it broke. I replaced it with one of my wife's plastic hair ties ($1 for 50) and it works like new. While there I dug to try and understand why so much sound was coming out of this little device and it was all a mess of poorly made, poorly glued flimsy plastic pieces. That's expected of this type of product, but it was on a whole different level. I'm honestly surprised this thing even made it to my front door. Normally I'd say you get what you pay for, but it's not that much cheaper (maybe $5 cheaper) than highly rated, reputable alternatives. Don't waste money. This is not the right purchase.
