So I ordered this as it was classified as a portable satellite and I have autistic kids and was planning to use it for hiking in our caravan which is old and doesn't get HD channels. It came and I immediately opened it and read the instructions. I also bought a stand for it from Wineguard and an extra receiver. I followed the instructions and made sure the coax was connected and pointing north and the unit had a clear view of the southern sky. After 90 minutes of "checking the switch" and turning, I restarted the receiver as instructed, checked the compass and connections. I tried Eastern ARC and Western Arc. FAILED. Wait another hour and a half. I called tech support and the girl who answered was very rude, asked me if I followed the instructions and in a very dismissive tone asked where I was and if I followed the instructions. Then when I recited what I did to her and all the items were like instructions, she said the old "Are you there? I do not hear you. CLICK". The day was cloudy so I decided to try again the next day. I mean I'm a geek, the CEO of one of the big three IT OEMs, I should be able to follow steps 1 , 2, etc. So today it was 66 degrees Fahrenheit, the wind was less than 5 miles per minute from the east. I took a spirit level, two compasses and a GPS! and it was perfectly straight. I used the sextant and the Jeppesen trip computer to make sure the horizon was clear and level.I had this kid pointed straight south on the point and nothing but blue sky ahead.Another 90 minutes and the control switch never got over the 20% blue bar.It never gave any signal or other progress Tried contacting support again FINISHED Finally loaded the inverter generator, small TV and Wineguard gear and routed to the local sports field which is open 200 meters t. THEREFORE NO OBSTACLES. This device received no signal at all and kept searching and searching. It still didn't get past the test switch. So far I've been trying to install the following instructions for 7 hours and no results. I will not spend 7 hours camping. And GOD knows there will be trees and other RVs at the campgrounds nearby. So if he doesn't get a signal within 200 yards (600 feet), it's clear and open. not worth the price or not up to the demands of use. He comes back and I look at another system or ask other RV users for advice. I will never buy this Wineguard X2 again, that's for sure. It was ether or just POS! Wineguard, if you're listening and would like me to try something better, I'd love to hear from you. but this one was a lemon and completely non-functional and I spent hours realizing that it wasn't me it was the device! ATTENTION TO THE BUYER! The last time I bought something like this is unconfirmed online. I wish you could put something with negative stars as I would put a MINUS 7 for the wasted hours trying to make it work!
