HDMI for video and PC speakers, you know. Does not store this information.

This is from my son. Hello, I have a strange setup and wanted to keep the motherboard stereo sound vs the GeForce 780's HDMI sound, but the monitor switched to HDMI for both and then back every time I turned it off. I then had to go into the monitor settings and change it again. I honestly forgot that my nVIDIA board has HDMI in the video machine. Otherwise, the monitor does what it is supposed to do and does it very well. Since nothing is perfect (done, completed, cannot be added to .final). I would advise HP to reconsider speaker placement. I'd rather they were in front. They lose a few decibels when they're behind you. If you're in an apartment, it might be less helpful to have speakers in the back (like mine). I'm thinking of a cheap solution to "steer the sound to the front" "to the sides". Otherwise I'm really digging this monitor. Windows 7 looks/sounds great with it. Yes, I still love this version of Windows. 10, terrible GUI, 11. a bit better. I had to install the Realtek HD Audio driver for all three operating systems in order for the PC speakers to work. As soon as I remembered that nVIDIA had HDMI, I bought DVI-HDMI and went down that route. I also disabled auto-switch before. They have nice fine-tuning of the controls, which makes things nice. The only problem is that the settings are not saved ("remembered"). So that's something they could learn for crazy people. HA! I haven't been a fan of HP for years as their products have become cheap and unreliable over the years. Before that they were a BIG brand. Since the new durable ink printer came out and my mom loved it and I'm her technician I've used it a lot and it works better than 2 other printer versions. So after checking the reviews here. I figured it was worth going ahead and trying. I'll check later and update in a few months.
