This is a surprisingly well made cap for the price. However, I paid a total of $21.04 including shipping and taxes. New Era hats can cost around $30. The sizing is a bit large for my 6 7/8 head and I had too much room on top of the hat to be comfortable in it. The head is larger than the girth, and headwear designers need to be aware of this. I had to wash and dry it twice for an hour to get it to a comfortable size. Luckily it's 100% cotton so will shrink. It held up well through the wash and dry with no damage, but was wrinkled and needed ironing. The fraying on the hat may need to be altered. I used a lighter to burn off the pesky excess fibers from the problem areas. This can cause dents to form on the front of the hat. The American flag insignia makes me feel like a right winger, unfortunately this is the political climate we live in so the American flag is not a neutral symbol even in the States. . Considering mass incarceration in states, excessive laws, excessive sentencing of convicts, abolition of due process (laws protecting against rape and using conflicting charges as facts stronger than forensic evidence (the Weinstein case), and manipulation of convicts, a plea , a plea deal, an imagined and costly war on drugs that leaves many sick without proper treatment, a paramilitary police force operating without checks and balances to curb corruption, the brutal use of solitary confinement against prisoners, police brutality and the appalling health care system that leaving many Americans uninsured, it is sometimes difficult to wear an American flag hat.
