Review on Revolutionary New Microsoft Surface Slim Pen: Enhancing Precision and Portability by Jennifer Dunn

Revainrating 2 out of 5

This is not a writing pen

Microsoft's slim pen has a good design and feels good when you hold it in your hand. However, I do take notes (using Windows Journal or OneNote) and this pen is inferior to the standard Microsoft Surface Pen. The standard pen gives you a choice of different nibs, and as a writer I like the feel of the nib, which offers some resistance, similarly like an eraser in a thin pencil. The thin handle does not allow you to change tips. The tip gives the feeling of writing on ice. As you age, you will no longer have the stability and accuracy that you had when you were 25. I'm 68 years old and this little ink pen resistor is nice and makes handwriting easier to read. The standard ink pen allows the use of an HB nib (as well as other nibs with a different feel) which offers some resistance. The fine pen has only one type of tip. That may be good for artists, but not for writers. I cannot recommend this product. The very smooth tip means you'll be making lots of tiny, fancy notes as you write.
