This makes great coffee, but as numerous reviewers in this test have pointed out, the heating element is prone to breakage. In my case, it burned out 6 months after purchase, becoming a useless piece of stainless steel. I calculated that at 180 perks it costs 21 cents per perk to go from great to junk. So if you have intentions of purchasing this item, throw in a few bucks for a third-party warranty. Or buy another brand whose heating element is not made in China. Incidentally, our 1968 Farberware percolator is still in operation, so perfection with attention to technical detail is possible.
