Review on ๐Ÿ’ช Enhance Precision and Efficiency with the Kanzawa Drill Guide Support K 801 by Adam Matthews

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sturdy, good quality and NOT frustrating to use like some other models

Many other drill guides are available from Revain, all cheaper than this one. I've owned other popular brands myself (Milescraft? and another) only to end up throwing them away out of frustration. The main problem I see with __other__ models is their lack of stability, basically the guide bar twists and tends to deform during use, making its value as a drill guide far from perfect - much less than ideal. Poor design, overdone features, plastic key components, whatever, they've got it. One of the reasons this model is so stable is that it only dips straight down, so there is no lateral movement or twisting. Supposedly the two support rods at the base can be adjusted and used in a special way to drill at an angle (as per the photo in the box) but I wouldn't recommend this as it will be difficult to get the angle right. . Both rails have stops so you can adjust the insertion depth, and the chuck tightener is chained to the gizmo so it doesn't get lost. The plunging motion is smooth and the build is fairly stable even with a drill attached to the top. With the exception of the friction pads on the underside, the construction is all metal. There are screw holes in the base so you can screw the assembly into some sort of bracket that allows you to clamp the entire jig in place for even more stability. The chuck says it can take 1.5-10mm bits. Made in Japan. Kanzawa sells another model at an even higher price that can corner. For longer drills, there are also models with longer support rods, also at an additional cost. There is one star because of the significantly higher price and the possibility of rusting on the rods and chuck. Don't be fooled by my four star rating as I would give others that I only had one star. Mine was shipped direct from Japan and arrived promptly.
