Updated review. After purchasing a new battery, the scale works normally. Rating updated to 3 stars. 5 stars for the quality of the scale itself, 1 star for receiving the scale with a dead battery. Amusingly, the product description states that the scale is "powered by the included lithium battery, which is unlikely to drain or degrade over the life of the scale." Some irony! Original post. I took the scale out of the box, removed the latch to save the battery, the scale won't turn on. Nothing! Just a blank screen. Used a plate battery type that I don't have at home to see if it's a bad battery. You have to buy a new battery and hope the scale isn't defective or sent back. Very disappointing!
