This rack worked great on my mountain bike and I had no trouble holding it down, including some off road riding and a crash hard enough to move the steering wheel. and break open my helmet. It is very durable. Unfortunately, while it's strong and only attaches to the seatpost, it's also heavy on the rack. And since it doesn't have vertical support bars, you can't use it with side pockets. So you are limited as to what can be strapped to the luggage rack. While it may look less silly than a traditional rack, if I had to buy it again I would go with a traditional rack for the weight savings and practicality. the only mounting option.
