Solid but heavy and cannot handle basket bags.

This rack worked great on my mountain bike and I had no trouble holding it down, including some off road riding and a crash hard enough to move the steering wheel. and break open my helmet. It is very durable. Unfortunately, while it's strong and only attaches to the seatpost, it's also heavy on the rack. And since it doesn't have vertical support bars, you can't use it with side pockets. So you are limited as to what can be strapped to the luggage rack. While it may look less silly than a…

BEST FOR THE PRICE /// BUT

This is an addendum to my previous excellent review. I still think this is the best cradle for the money, but I've found that if your seat isn't high enough, that strut will be too low and hit the rear wheel. Problem I didn't even think about when I bought it, in my case I have a brand new bike which I have extensively customized to make it as comfortable as possible and my seat was right where I wanted it for the best riding position held. For me, I marked the height of the seatpost with tape…

Screws and brackets do not fit my Shwinn

This review relates to a folding stand. That's a good stand. However, the bolts are smaller than the mounting holes on my 26" Schwinn Huron. For floor mounting, this can be loosened with the supplied nuts. EXCEPT: On the chain side, the bolt goes into the chain. Therefore, the supplied brackets must be used unless a shorter bolt can be found that actually fits. For the top brackets, the bolts are again too small and not long enough to fit through the mounting holes to use the nuts.Brackets are…

The photos on the product page and posted by reviewers are correct so I will not be posting anymore. A friend has one on his bike - love it so I bought it and installed it last night! Easy to install, especially if your saddle stem has a quick release lever (or just unscrew it). The Schwinn post comes with THREE small tubes/eyelets on the inside of the stem that can be removed if necessary to accommodate different size seat stems (if your pair of seats doesn't fit, simply remove one or more of…

Great product when replacing screws before installation

glad - useful and easier to install than anything else, even marginally comparable. First, however, you should discard the screws included in the kit (reason 4 instead of 5 stars). Serious. I had to tighten the dumb bolts that came with the rack with (light) cycling every few days to keep it from rocking. then suddenly a bolt literally broke in half. luckily the other one broke too (not sure when - the bike had been parked in the garage for a few days) so removing the remaining crappy bolts was

Good stand but may have installation issues.

The rack itself is nice and strong, another issue is installation. This stay required the saddle stem to be raised high enough to make room for the tire (probably a bigger issue with our larger 700mm wheels/tires). My wife's stem also has a one-bolt damper seat at the top of the stem, which further limits the top mounting position of the stem. In fact, in order to maintain the correct pedaling position, I had to grind the perimeter of the shock bolt to fit the bracket mounting hole. Also, some…

Great but use advanced installation methods to avoid problems

Beautiful. Looks good and functional. Since some of the reviewers had trouble editing, I've added a few tips. To avoid slipping: Before installation, use alcohol or dish soap to remove a thin film of oil from the seals and inner post bracket and clean the seat post. I took this a step further and used 100 grit sandpaper to lightly sand all the interior surfaces. Be sure to clean everything after sanding. I then took the second step and applied a small amount of blue (non-hardening) thread lock…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons

My wife rides a rather small racing bike. She used the trunk to commute to work when the weather was nice. However, we recently bought a weehoo bike trailer for our kids. The seat post mount for this trailer could not be used with their old bike rack (no problem with my larger framed bike). So the old prop fell off and most of the new props didn't work with it (the prop is still too high, the lip in the front gets in the way). This stand solved that problem. First, it's flat. No lips bother…
