Review on GM Genuine Parts 22807122: High-Quality Heating & AC Blower Motor Resistor by Lakeem Pickel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

My problem was solved: Engine Cooling and Air Conditioning

The HVAC fan in my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 only ran at speed 1-4 and speed 5 seemed dead. I checked all the fuses, including the relay, everything is fine. Did some research and found that the HVAC fan motor resistance and/or its wiring harness (melting) could be the cause. This block has 2 connectors and both looked fine. The HVAC fan motor worked fine, I haven't checked the HVAC fan motor but I've never had any other issues so I figured the resistor was just old. I was lucky that this solved the problem and I can now use all 5 speeds. This old resistor was easy to remove and the new resistor was easy to install, 2 screws and 2 connectors on both, only 10 minutes including tool removal and stowage. I was surprised because the old resistor and the new resistor looked completely different, but I confirmed the part number was correct and the new look was due to improvements and being able to fit more applications. My only issue is that the wiring has changed slightly due to upgrades from the old resistor and is putting some strain on the wires and connectors. I don't see this as a huge issue, but something to consider if something goes wrong later in the future. If I run into any premature problems I'll update this review, but ACDelco makes high quality and reliable parts. I personally prefer to buy genuine ACDelco/GM parts for my GM vehicles whenever possible. I've always noticed a big difference from alternative parts. I believe this resistance will last as long as the original resistance, since 1998!
