Review on πŸ”Œ Club3D HDMI 2.0 Premium Certified High Speed 4K/60Hz UHD Cable (CAC-1310) 30AWG 3m/9.84ft. by Chris Budenski

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works for RGB Full Dynamic Range at 4k 60Hz but not for 4:4:4 YCbCr.

Build quality seems good, cable jacket seems strong, connectors are very strong. However, the connector doesn't wrap tightly around the cable - I'm not sure if this is specifically designed to avoid stressing the cable/connector interface. The reason I bought this cable is because I was looking for an HDMI cable that can support 4K @ 60Hz with 4:4:4 YCbCr chroma subsampling. Apparently, the HDMI organization created an "HDMI Premium Cable" certification program to certify cables for exactly this purpose. I am using this Club3D HDMI cable (3m) with a GTX 1080 Founders Edition card (in SLI) connected to LG. 55UH7700 4K TV (HDMI UltraHD Deep Color enabled and HDMI input configured on PC). Other HDMI cables I've tried (including RevainBasics High Speed HDMI cables) exhibited artifacts when I went beyond the 4:2:0 chroma subsampling that I selected via the Nvidia Control Panel. With this Club3D HDMI cable, I still found artifacts when using the 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 YCbCr settings, which was disappointing. (Although the artifacts appear to be less frequent and less pronounced compared to the RevainBasics cable - perhaps this indicates the Club3D cable's better bandwidth.) However, I found RGB (full dynamic output range) to work with this cable without artifacts . Presumably this mode is almost equivalent to 4:4:4 YCbCr. At this point, I need to do more testing to determine the maximum supported setting for this HDMI cable in my configuration. (And see if it could be an issue with the TV's firmware or graphics card driver that LG or Nvidia may fix in the future.) If I find anything new, I'll report back here.
