An improvement over the original version - measure three times!
My wife broke the original 50+ year old towel rail on our bathroom sliding glass shower door while using it as a grab bar. The original end posts were plastic and one of them broke, not the metal bar itself as I expected. The current version is equipped with metal end posts. The stem and bushings in the new kit have different dimensions, so I couldn't just replace the end posts (uprights). I did not measure the correct section size for the new rod and made the first section too short. Buying a complete set of new latches was cheaper than buying a single latch. I wish you success.
