This happened to me after the first use. I followed the instructions in the manual to wipe the batter with a damp cloth before use and then pour the batter onto the line after it warmed up. After a little over a minute of cooking, the dough starts to ooze out the sides, but I keep running at work because it hasn't even been 3 minutes. When I get to the end of the time, I open the lid and the waffle maker separates, with half sticking to the bottom and half sticking to the top. I can remove the bottom half with a bit of residue sticking to the non-stick surface, but the top half proved a problem because the dough was stuck to it in the center and I can't remove it without using something harder than rubber or plastic. They recommend using vegetable oil if it is going to be coated with 4 nonstick coatings, but how do you know for sure after first use? They say it doesn't stick and you don't have to do anything to oil the inside, but obviously it was necessary.
