Review on Portable Monitor FOOWIN Computer Display 15.6", 1920X1080, 60Hz, VP525, HDMI, HD by Bronson Snoddy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great monitor, make sure you use a 2 amp power supply.

It's really convenient and versatile. I use this monitor with an HDMI splitter to preview video content for a projector screen on the go, but thanks to the recent ubiquity of USB-C video, it's found many other uses. Little did I know how many USB-C devices I already have that can be connected to this monitor. This is really great! This device really does require a dedicated 5 volt 2 amp power supply. The spec is no joke: a half-amp or single-amp block won't work. I measured: in a dream he needs 0.2 amperes. At 0% brightness, it needs 0.6 amps. At 40% brightness, it needs 1.03 amps. At 100% brightness, it needs 1.97 amps. According to the manufacturer, the monitor should dim when it detects that the power supply is not strong enough, but my tests show that this does not work reliably; The monitor keeps restarting when the power supply is not strong enough. You should have a dedicated 2 or 3 amp box just for this monitor. You must have enough power to operate the monitor at the last brightness setting to access the menu and decrease the brightness. This monitor also does not support USB power delivery. Attempting to charge devices through the monitor is really unreliable: at full brightness, the monitor requires 5 volts 2 amps, and 5 volts 3 amps is the max inconsistent power on USB Type-C. If you try to charge something essential (phone or laptop, >5 volts 1 amp) through the monitor it won't work, even if you have a large Type-C power adapter (e.g. 45+ watts). It is best to run the laptop on a charger and power the monitor from the laptop. This can be an issue on power-hungry phones, as you can't turn off charging from the monitor. The workaround is to turn down the brightness before plugging in your phone. Pay attention to which peripherals you connect to the USB 2.0 adapter, as these can also dim the monitor.
