Review on 🍷 Optimized Emerson Single Bottle Wine Chiller by Larry Cothran

No memory in case of power failure.

I bought this cooler to store liquid fish food in my aquarium. It works well for this purpose except that the set temperature returns to 59F after a power outage. The block is built quite well. The cooling tray is metal and the heat pump is fixed to the bottom of the tray. It cools that mug down pretty quickly, but with a bottle of wine, heat exchange between the bottle and mug isn't as efficient as it is in a bucket of ice water. The manual says not to get the device wet, so pouring water into a cup to improve heat transfer is probably a bad idea. I put liquid nutrition in a plastic bag rolled up in a cup. I ran a thermocouple into the folds of the bag. When the temperature is set at 33F, the unit will cycle on and off as the cup cools to 33F and quickly heats up to the bag temperature after the heat pump turns off. It takes quite a long time to drop a 500ml bag of liquid at room temperature while this cycle continues. At steady state the unit oscillates between 33F and 37F while my heat couple reads 37F. This is likely caused by heat flowing back through the heatsink and heating the bottom of the mug.

Pros
  • Temperature Range 27F to 140F
Cons
  • Ratio Set
