Review on ☕️ Kicking Horse Coffee Kick Ass: Dark Roast, Ground - Organic, Fairtrade & Kosher 10 Oz by Shawn Price

Bad coffee, avoid two packs

Combination warning: one ground coffee and the other whole bean. I can't imagine how many people would want to buy both. I was looking for ground coffee and didn't zoom in, so I'm stuck with beans I can't grind. Maybe that's more Revane's wine than KHC; I see them being supplied and sold by Revain (usually a good thing). It's worth noting that great ground coffee has NO DATE and smart beans have a shelf life of 4 months. I saw reviews of rancid and strange smells and tastes, but ignored them due to the large number of positive reviews. Great coffee first hit me with the smell of sweet crab and lemon upon opening. with coffee. Not sure if these are rancid smells or the result of roasting for a "smoked" quality. In fact, upon brewing, the crab smell settles down to the quality of campfire ash, while the lemon still lingers like furniture polish dust. If there's a positive side, at least the tastes don't clash, and if you like grilled seafood and lemon in your coffee, you'll find this well balanced. I suppose the smokiness qualifies this as a dark roast, but if you're a dark roast lover you won't find that this makes up for the lack of other dark roast qualities. I'm really not a huge coffee snob but it was a bad experience all round. Maybe it's my fault I bought what now appears to be a sale set from Revain. Skip the two-packs and consider giving up that coffee altogether.
