Review on GuineaDad Liner: Premium Fleece Cage Liners with Burrowing Pocket Sleeve, Bamboo Absorbency, and Waterproof Bottom - Ideal Guinea Pig Bedding by Ursula Kennedy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The only liner for guinea pigs you will ever need

I have been using the GuineaDad 2.0 fleece liner for about a month now and am very impressed. I've tried paper bedding, puppy mats, fleece blankets with uhaul furniture blankets underneath and they all had one horrible flaw. Paper bedding is very wasteful and expensive, and not particularly easy to keep clean. Puppy pads are extremely dangerous as guinea pigs like to chew on them and get stuck as a result. Fleece blankets and furniture cushions need to be cut to fit the cage (otherwise you will end up with a lumpy, shapelessly folded blanket), they may not absorb moisture if improperly prepared, and vacuum cleaners will pick up fleece. It took some courage to take the plunge with Papa Guinea as it is a significant financial investment but well worth it. The inner liners are designed to fit my Midwest cage. They are slightly larger to allow for possible wash/dry shrinkage, which I appreciate. As soon as you unpack the liner, you notice that this is a well-made and high-quality product. The liners are so thick and plush that they are perfect for a pig's sensitive feet, with a waterproof bottom to prevent urine from seeping through and soiling the cage itself. There is a fleece pocket on one end of the liner for the pigs to burrow into, which brings me to another point: my pigs don't hide under those blankets! Whenever I used regular fleece blankets, the pigs would always break through underneath, squeezing them all over the place and making a big mess. The combination of the fleece pocket, the thickness and weight of the liner, and how it fits perfectly in the cage and sits flush with no gaps means pigs are much less likely to dig. The fleece pocket can be vacuumed, but it's easy to just pick up the end of the duvet and shake or brush the dirt onto the quilted part where you can easily vacuum it up. Alternatively, if your pigs aren't interested in the bag, you can simply fold it inside out so that it lies underneath the waterproof lining, revealing the quilted portion underneath. The heaviness of the quilted lining means you can easily clean it with a cordless vacuum, making cleaning incredibly easy. There is no smell with them. They perfectly absorb and absorb urine in the liner; Didn't notice any wet spots. If you have elderly or sick guinea pigs that absolutely need drying, this is ideal. I have three guinea pigs in two cages in the Midwest. I have two sets of two Guinea Dada inlays, so I always have a clean set ready at all times; Instead of waiting for them to be washed, I can just take out the dirty garment, put in a clean one and do the laundry in peace. I pick her poop every day, multiple times a day, removing food debris with a tiny broom/vacuum and cordless vacuum as needed. Once a week I wash and dry my Guinea Dada insoles in the machine. It is so easy. No other bedding option has been as easy to deal with, and not having the recurring expense of disposable bedding is fantastic. As for the cons, I would like to say that I do not like to wash them in cold water to avoid shrinkage. As you probably know, guinea pig bedding can get downright gross if you don't clean the stains daily and you instinctively want to toss the bedding in the washing machine with very hot water and a cup of bleach. In cold water, residues of boar glue or other mysterious substances can sometimes remain on the quilt after washing, so it is worth checking the quilt in advance and pre-treating it with a stain remover, or just quickly rub the stains with washing powder before loading it into the Machine. If they ever come out with a Guinea Papa liner that can be washed in hot water and bleached I will find a way to give it 6 stars. But for the most part, they're no problem washing them in cold water, and they dry well even on low temperatures (although I think I'll start air drying mine to protect my investment). After a month of use and multiple washes, my liners are not wearing off. I will update this review if there are any issues. I didn't hesitate and paid full price for all four earbuds I bought, so my review is completely unbiased. In the past I really struggled to keep my cages clean and had to deal with bedding options that just didn't work. These liners make it so much easier and you can tell they were designed by someone who actually owns guinea pigs and knows exactly what we want from our bedding. How happy my piglets are in a neat, tidy, clean, dry and odor free cage is worth every penny I paid for the GuineaDad deposits.
