Chain diameter is correct going through the ring for a large breed puppy (nearly 10 months old). There is a slight roughness in closing each link, although the links have been dipped in chrome paint or something. If you have a long-haired dog, this must not irritate the skin. Except for a slight roughness, the chain consists of links and two rings as shown in the picture. Can slip over your dog's head if you don't hold the leash well so use caution or use a regular collar attached to a spare leash. Ban on wearing a collar or walking on a leash. Best used on a dog that will NOT pull and jump to get away causing uncontrollable neck pressure and gagging. This is a correction collar, not a punitive device.
