My 4 year old daughter likes to pretend to be looking for treasure/gems. We made them bury them in the sandpit, hide in the house, etc. They work for what we need them for. Knowing that a child is likely to scratch and bang on it, we were more interested in an affordable price than pristine condition. I bought these knowing I was expecting less than perfect condition based on other reviews. You were right - there are dents and scuffs on many of the edges but the colors are bright and cheerful and would suit a 4 year old. Lots of parts for the price and I would buy them again.
