This multipurpose silicone spoon rest is just brilliant! It lays flat on my countertop, giving me a central place to place all utensils and even put on a large (or small) pot lid while cooking. I have several traditional spoon rests but they only hold one kitchen spoon. They are often ceramic and therefore fragile, and you will need several of these if you are preparing a full meal. They definitely won't hold multiple spoons, larger items like ladles or tongs, and certainly not a pot lid, but this one will do. The one spoon stand I have is for the spoon to stand up and you need to put the spoon upright and facing the right way. When cooking, I just want to use my utensils and then put them on the counter quickly and without thinking. This, of course, creates clutter and can result in exposure of the dishes to unsanitary countertops or cleaning products. This new spoon rest allows me to quickly and neatly stack all my utensils in one central location, and I can lift the pot lid without damaging or messing up the counter or stovetop before putting it back on the pot. Anything in the lid drips down and collects on the spoon rest. Raised edges prevent liquids from spilling onto the countertop. Because it's silicone, nothing sticks to it and it's easy to clean. I just put mine in the dishwasher but it would be easy to hand wash. I would highly recommend it to any chef. It becomes an item you can't imagine how you managed without.
