Color and general design aesthetic are adequate for a one year old. However, the pins and ball are made of thin hard plastic which I think will crack with repeated use. What really annoys me is the way this item is packaged: the painted surfaces of the pens face outward, positioning them against the plastic vinyl of the bag. This becomes a problem when the goods are delivered in hot weather when the heat outside causes the paint to come off faces and onto the bag! If they just looked inward with their painted faces, then that wouldn't be a problem. And since these pins are destroyed anyway after repeated use, I understand the point of sending them back. Despite this, I decided to give this product 4 stars. Despite the fact that his picky aunt worries, my nephew really likes this toy. Watching pins knock over is both satisfying and devastating, which he just loves! I say as long as it catches his attention for a few minutes I'm fine with the stained paint job 😆
