Our sweet fluffy baby barks LOUD and wildly: Whenever there is movement outside, Buddy growls and barks as if our whole life depends on him, regardless of the level of threat ( wind, squirrel, delivery man, passing neighbor). This device has five different sound sensitivity settings, a charger, and vibrates when it detects dog sounds. The vibration scares the dog and our dog responded to the vibration fairly quickly (within a few days of use) without barking when wearing this collar. In true dog training style, this collar works well: Buddy knows he can't bark when wearing the collar. If I take the collar off (which I do at night because I want him to still feel like he can alert us if needed) he knows he can bark (and he barks when he doesn't have that device ). I've seen this collar in action: at home when I work when he wears the collar he makes a low and short ruff to alert me to outside movements compared to his previous action of Kujo's full bark, when the leaves are rustling outside. If I work at home and he is NOT wearing a collar, he will start barking at full force again. This also applies when Buddy is outside. If he has a collar on, he doesn't tirelessly bark at me to let him back in. Instead, he gasps once and then knocks on the door with his paw. If he goes outside without a collar, he will revert to his usual relentless bark. We had NO problems putting a collar on him. He doesn't fight with me at all and doesn't touch the collar with his paw to remove it. In other words, he is not afraid of the collar/device. This device is NOT INSTANT. Please do not expect your dog to stop barking the moment you put the device on. It took our buddy a few days to figure out the pattern (on/off, bark = vibrate). He is a 7 year old Labrador/Pitta mix and of course I think he is quite smart but I think most dogs would react that way. It was a good investment for our family. We love our pal very much, but a constant barking dog can be annoying in many ways and also create tension in a close-knit neighborhood where so many people work from home more often. This collar solved our problem in a humane and educational way.
