This is a great looking product (and counts as it will be on my counter). There's a lot of salt in it, which is very good. And a domed lid is a great idea over a salt shaker if you use salt in your cooking. So what's the problem? The curved lid doesn't close very tightly. A good % of the time it opens up a bit exposing the salt to moisture and everything that's going on in the kitchen and that's what we're trying to prevent. The lid will likely need a weight or other padding to keep it closed. Also keep in mind that the lid doesn't latch at all. If the bowl is knocked over, the salt will spill everywhere. I knew I would do this, but it's a bad idea if your kids could be involved using this.
