Slim and easy to use

Wanted a salt shaker that could be opened with one hand and this worked. The opening hinge could have been a bit softer as it takes more force than expected to open the lid, but it still only takes one hand. And I love that the whole thing can be washed with soap and water (as my other one has a bamboo lid which I don't want to submerge in water). Despite its white color and proximity to the stove, anything it soils, including pasta sauce, washes off completely with soap and water.

Pros
  • Serving bowls and tureens
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Almost finished. lid does not stay closed

This is a great looking product (and counts as it will be on my counter). There's a lot of salt in it, which is very good. And a domed lid is a great idea over a salt shaker if you use salt in your cooking. So what's the problem? The curved lid doesn't close very tightly. A good % of the time it opens up a bit exposing the salt to moisture and everything that's going on in the kitchen and that's what we're trying to prevent. The lid will likely need a weight or other padding to keep it closedโ€ฆ

nice modern design, poor workmanship

I liked the modern look of this salt shaker. However, the bowl is very light even when full. So when you close them you need two hands, one to stabilize and one to close the lid while trying to hold the salt between your fingers. It's the opposite of good industrial design, because you want to be able to use a salt shaker with one hand while you're cooking. If the base was weighted (like a glass or ceramic salt shaker), you could simply slide it up to open and forward to close. But when youโ€ฆ
