A HUGE design flaw, otherwise works well. Made in communist China

A HUGE design flaw, otherwise works well. Manufactured in Communist China. There's a HUGE design flaw here. Instead of 2 jacks on the back to connect phone cords. They make the mistake of running the "line" directly from the back of the car instead of having a plug for it. This means you are "locked in" using that particular length of cable. You cannot install a shorter cable, and if you need a longer cable, you will need to use adapters and a phone line extension cord. A much better way of doing this (and AT&T has done this in the past) is to have two connectors so you can swap out the cable for the length you want. I can only assume they did this to 1) save $0.07 and 2) eliminate the possibility of misconnecting the cables. The instructions are on a huge piece of paper. A booklet would have been much better. I found instructions online and saved them to my Apple Drive. It also makes it easier to find things. Anyway, I'm satisfied with this machine, almost all functions are programmable. You have several calls before he answers the programmed one. Remember that young people usually hang up after two rings. I programmed mine to answer after five rings. In the good old days, phone companies recommended that you let it ring 10 times before ending a call. Our whole family has lots of iPhones, but we love our landline phone for its consistent audio clarity. Another feature I have enabled is recording an incoming phone number. So many people are very quick to give out their phone number when leaving a message, making it difficult to hear them back. By enabling the number recording feature, the robotic voice will play back the incoming phone number for you in a comfortable Midwestern accent that most people can understand. A small minus is that part of the nomenclature on the machine itself also includes Spanish. This can cause some confusion. You should make separate machines for English, Spanish, and French users.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Can't remember

Don't use the built-in microphone to record your outgoing message
