Do not use the built-in microphone to record an announcement.

This is a good answering machine with some positive qualities such as: B. the ability to set the number of rings before answering. However, two negative points noted by other reviewers prevent me from giving it 5 stars. Those downsides are the insistence on not setting the time every time you listen to an incoming message, and the horrible sound of an outgoing message (aka an announcement) when you record it with the device's built-in microphone. Regarding that last comment, I recorded anโ€ฆ

Good replacement for an old car.

I've been using an old GE answering machine for a very long time, but the 9V backup batteries are draining too quickly, leading me to believe that some of the internal components were probably just outdated. work properly/more efficiently. After looking at several possible replacement devices, I settled on this one because its features are most reminiscent of my old one, particularly the remote commands that allow you to call and check your messages from other locations. It's inexpensive andโ€ฆ

Frozen two in a row - garbage. Yes, this is a warning not to buy.

I almost never leave a very negative review as I usually look at what I buy but the 10% failure rate should be met on the same complaints to be valid. There are good reasons why this item has either a great rating from a new buyer or a "This sucks" rating after using the item for a while. This car was rubbish for me twice and this car deserves a terrible rating. I bought two of these because the first one I bought was defective from the start and I sent it back. The new one I received lastedโ€ฆ

I don't need an autoresponder with everyone.

I don't need an answering machine with all the bells and whistles. I just need to answer a call and take a message. End of the story. This one does exactly that. I can't say it works as advertised as I haven't used all the features and never will. He does what I need. -- Update -- Now that I've used this machine for a few months, I find I like it even more than when I first started. No, I did not use all functions. It will never happen. What impresses me the most is the simplicity of theโ€ฆ

A HUGE design flaw, otherwise works well. Made in communist China

A HUGE design flaw, otherwise works well. Manufactured in Communist China. There's a HUGE design flaw here. Instead of 2 jacks on the back to connect phone cords. They make the mistake of running the "line" directly from the back of the car instead of having a plug for it. This means you are "locked in" using that particular length of cable. You cannot install a shorter cable, and if you need a longer cable, you will need to use adapters and a phone line extension cord. A much better way ofโ€ฆ

I bought this AT&T answering machine for my elderly mother. I had two main requirements: ease of use and something that could be completely silent if the caller was recording a message. Apparently, the silent mode was deactivated on this answering machine at some point, as some reviewers reported, but the device bought in January 2017 can work silently, as I demonstrate in the attached video. The sound is recorded clearly and without distortion. The autoresponder is pretty easy to use. Setup is

Race to the Bottom - Office Electronics

Annnd. . . we have a winner! After a lightning strike ignited my trusty old AT&T 1725, which ended 10 years of service, I had to replace it. While this AT&T 1740 seemed like a better option to me, and was even cheaper than the older model, it underperforms on several counts: confusion in this era of declining semiconductor production costs; maybe it's because of cheaper converters. I wonder how much that saved the creators? 2. Corporate bean counters also skimped on the knobs and slide switches
