I've read bad reviews on here and none of them had a detailed negative experience. So here's mine, which will hopefully enlighten someone on the risk you're running by buying one of these. * I also have another lava lamp that works for a good comparison to rule out any mistakes on my part. *After opening the box with a lamp inside, I was set up with some instructions on how to use it. It says it can take up to 4-6 hours to work. This made me realize right away that some of the people leaving bad reviews on here weren't patient because I've read a lot of them said they only turned it on for 2. The first time I turned it on (with the red I have one for). *same time* - after about 2.5 hours it turned into one of those frozen blob-like statues (it startled me seeing this issue in the reviews). I then continued heating as instructed. After about 6 hours I noticed that it was actually liquid and consisted of two huge blobs that didn't really float up. It was a valiant effort but for a lava lamp I'll give it at least 5 attempts to use for now. Every time I leave it on at least 8 hours every night and check before bed and in the morning. The lamp has a huge blob at the bottom that doesn't move but looks like it wants to but surface tension and density viscosity is too high causing it to sit firmly right on the bottom of the lantern. Then there's a tiny bit that somehow managed to float to the top (it must have happened while I was sleeping because I didn't notice any movement). In any case, this is nonsense. i want it to work i will return it I really gave him a chance. I think I'll find one in the store that works and offer them money for it haha. **** Two photos with blue lamp - this is my chance I redeemed the lamp myself (8 hours after switching on). A photo shows a damaged item and a working lamp both turned on at the same time.
