I bought this for my dog who has been fed raw food all his life (7 years). My dog loved it! It smells exactly how I expected raw meat to smell after rehydration. It looks fleshy and when the juice flows, it's pink, as expected. I don't get that from other sublimated commodities like here and I love it. You can see in the photo that I added some water. If I leave it longer I think all that water will be absorbed. I would suggest breaking this up before adding the water otherwise the water will end up in the center forever. The only question I have is that I don't see any bones on the ingredients list and normally raw foods should contain bones or add calcium. . I would like that on the list. I was just rehydrating a patty and I was groping around and I could feel hard lumps that should be bones to me. The largest of them, it seemed to me, was the size and shape of a small bean. I could also hear my dog crunching on it while eating. I would also like to know how much meat/bones needs to be produced. From the looks of it, I'm guessing it's mostly meat and offal, but I wish it was in the packaging. So far my dog loves it with no digestive issues. I think she likes it more than what we are currently feeding (Stella and gummy bears). My dog is 17 pounds and the feeding guide didn't really list that weight range so I gave her 3 patties for breakfast. She eats twice a day. Let it list calories per patty. So if you know how many calories your dog eats, you can calculate it this way. I'm pretty picky when it comes to pet food and this food passes the test for me. I think we'll buy again after I get an answer on the bone question, but I'll probably buy pieces because smaller pieces are easier to rehydrate. Thank you for reading my review, Becky Brooks.
